More of the Flood at 55 Hickory Street East
Some unfortunate people had this substance all over their kitchen, dining area and livingrooms. I cannot imagine what is underneath the floor/ceiling below. It must have been at least ankle deep in order to amass over 3 inches in the apartment below.

What was coming out of the Drains?
Images of who-knows-what coming out of the drains at 55 Hickory Street East, managed by Margaret Schiketanz Real Estate Inc. All this apparently is the sole responsibility of tenants at 55 Hickory Street as per T. Dye of Margaret Schiketanz Real Estate Inc.
Apartment Flood at 55 Hickory Street East, Waterloo, ON
On Sunday August 12, at 5:50 pm, Liz and I returned home to a flood of water pouring down from the ceiling.
Apparently there was a sewer back-up via the kitchen sinks of many units facing University Avenue. Many units had an overflow of sewage over their kitchen sinks and onto their floors.
In our case, the kitchen sink did not overflow, rather, it was the tenant above us, unit 202, that had the flood. The resident of 202 was away for the weekend and could not mitigate the flow of water; subsequently water and other substances flowed throughout the entire kitchen and living room. The water eventually found its way down through our unit and started accumulating in our dining area and kitchen.
We immediately notified the superintendent, whom worked really hard and fast to stop the water and assist us in soaking it up.
We cleaned the floors with soap and water and allowed it to dry.
The next morning the manager of Margaret Schiketanz Real Estate Inc. came to inspect the unit. We asked her what she was planning to do it clean it up, she just looked at me and said "what do expect me to do?". She explained that this situation was likely the result of tenants putting 'coffee grinds and grease' down the drains and that she was planning on doing nothing to clean it up. She told me that I should make a claim with my insurance and that the company was not going to do anything to clean or repair the situation.
Since this point, I have been contacting all the appropriate authorities to rectify this situation.
My apartment smells terrible and it gives me a headache.
